Asa Ransom @ the Gypsy Hut - Tonight and Tomorrow

You all should make a point to head to the Gypsy Hut tonight (and tomorrow) and check out Asa Ransom.  I've mentioned them before after catching their set during CMJ last year.  The guys have been touring like crazy over the last couple of months, working very hard to hone their live show.  While their show was great last fall I can only imagine what it will be like after several months of performing night in and night out.  Anyway, they're in town for the next couple of nights so try and make it out.  Finally, if the promise of an excellent live show by a great up-and-coming band isn't enough, it looks like there will be karaoke tonight as well!!!

Free Unreleased Track from Empire of the Sun

In anticipation of the US release of Empire of the Sun's Walking On A Dream the band is giving away an mp3 of the previously unreleased track "Romance to Me".  All you have to do to get your hands on the track is to go here and sign up on the band's forum.  I don't think that's too much to ask, especially when you hear the robotic romanticism that's found on the track.

The new album is due on April 21st which means you now have at least one thing to put on your record store shopping list for that day.  Trust me, if you don't buy this record you might as well not buy anything at all.

The Mae Shi - Run To Your Grave

I know HLLLYH came out in early 2008 but for the last few days I haven't been able to stop listening to the record and more specifically, this song.  The Mae Shi were one of the bands I saw at the ridiculous Panache Booking Showcase during CMJ last year.  While the crowd was going nuts during the band's entire set, this song seemed to take it all to another level.  Anyway, that's why I'm posting this video.  Enjoy.
